Ahmad Amro

With heavy hearts, we mourn the loss of our friend and brother Ahmad Amro, who died after a long battle with illness at the age of 37 on December 2nd, 2023. It is rare to come across such a humble and selfless person whose bright personality helped us all stay strong in the darkest of times. We lost him much too soon although his steadfast spirit and determination lives on in us all.

Ahmad Ismael Hassan Amro was a brave, kind and caring volunteer. He was one of the founders of Youth Against Settlements and was a long-time shadow leader of the group. He also served on its steering committee since 2018. Ahmad was never afraid to stand up for justice and for the rights of his people. He embodied the spirit and the heart of the organization and was a teacher of nonviolence and role model to younger volunteers.

Born in Hebron, he was a worldly person who received his education as a Veterinarian in Ukraine as a young man. He decided to return to Hebron to be with his people and support his community rather than remaining in Ukraine for his career.

Ahmad had a wonderful sense of humor and a love for life. Ahmad took care of everyone around him. He was a friend of the poor and supported volunteers and families through hardships.
